Poems: Aug 3, 2020
I keep watching Juice WRLD's freestyle raps on youtube, and Youtube knows it. I see them all the time on my homepage.
This is a small section of an hour-long freestyle he did. He's just so damn good at it!
And, in the theme of doing things to get better at them, I think it would be fun to practice rapping. It's a long way from you hearing any raps from me, but poems are pretty similar to rapping, so I'll start with poems as practice.

I listened to an economist article about the anniversary of the atomic bombs dropping on Hiroshima and Nagasaki today.
I just happen to have this cloud photo on my desktop, not a mushroom cloud but it looks like one.
Power so great
Tempting fate
Lives erased
As delicate lace
Now today
Seeming so far away
The power remains
To unleash the flames

I had a nice chat with an old friend today. The topic of acceptance came up. More than any word, acceptance has been the most meaningful and challenging thing for me.
I remembered this photo today. It's of a pagoda in Magway in central Myanmar. |
Accept the little things
Accept the big
Accept time and change
And that nothing will be the same
Accept the mundane
the joy, the ecstacy, the pain
Accept that I will die
Accept that others will die
Accept that sometimes I will cry
Accept the present
For only then can I enjoy it
2020-08-07: Screw
I put a screw though my brother’s finger
It wasn’t a site I wanted to linger
The timing was poor
Blood spread on the floor
The terror did grip us both
He screwed it out
With a bit of a shout
As I took my oath
To never again put a screw through my brother’s finger.
