Cambodia: Week 15
On Monday and Tuesday, I headed off to Prey Veng province to check on the solar pump. Sovanntha and Monorom, the regional agronomist and sales manager at iDE, also had a branch team meeting and training.

On the way to the solar pump, I couldn't resist snapping some videos of more rice fields. I haven't gotten sick of rice fields yet, but there isn't much else to look at.

[caption id="attachment_1573" align="alignnone" width="4032"] On the way to the farm, we ran into some road repairmen. The only trouble was they were blocking the road. We waited for about 30 min while they filled in the holes with rocks.[/caption]
When at the farm, Sovanntha decided to grind down the electric pump arm to reduce rubbing on the solar pump.

[caption id="attachment_1575" align="alignnone" width="4032"] The pump was apparently donated by UNICEF. It looks older than 2 years old.[/caption]

On the way back to the truck, I saw a baby cow :)

Back at the branch office, I saw more of the birds.

Wednesday was a holiday in Cambodia, which happened to be election day in the US. This meant that Tasha and I were glued to the computer while the votes were being counted. We had prepared some "refreshments" to either cope with or celebrate the outcome.
[caption id="attachment_1569" align="alignnone" width="3724"] Election day, enough said.[/caption]
I spent Thursday and Friday in the office without much to comment on.
[caption id="attachment_1588" align="alignnone" width="3024"] Tasha made yogurt![/caption]
On Friday night, we went to see Bridget Jones' Baby (Tasha's choice). At the little movie theater, they had a bunch of funny bathroom translations from Asian countries. I find these especially funny.

Lors Thmey's COO's daughter was getting married on Saturday, and we were invited to the reception. The reception was similar enough to a wedding in the US. Food, beer, and dancing. Tasha and I were sat at a table with six middle-aged Cambodians who spoke a little English. It wasn't enthralling dinner conversation but was still fun. There were many people from Lors Thmey and iDE there, so it was fun to talk and dance with them.
This first video wasn't actually the right wedding. There was a huge hall pretty far outside of Phnom Penh that had 6 wedding receptions going on simultaneously.
